Maison Ku

Walking through the door of this recently restored village house is like unwrapping a package. The unassuming façade hides an airy, light-filled space that delights the senses. It is simply furnished and comfortable. A dramatic, open circular staircase, designed by a local engineer, is an architectural wonder. While in residence, expect to find yourself speculating endlessly about the building’s past. Were its lower levels once a secret hiding place for villagers? This much is known: Maison Ku was built on the ancient stairway into the town with vaults in the lower levels dating back to the Middle Ages. Even if you’re not an architecture buff, your stay will be delightful. Sip a glass of wine on one of the two small terraces that overlook the Vaucluse Valley and spectacular Mt. Ventoux. Sleeps four.
